The sea turtles are rescued and rehabilitated or identified for study during nesting by one of our partner organizations such as the Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC), located in Juno Beach, FL. The sea turtles are released with a small satellite transmitter, using attachment methods that are specifically designed not to harm the turtle. The GPS data provides researchers with information to help protect sea turtle populations!

LMC research biologists have some of the most comprehensive datasets in the world. These datasets are invaluable to scientists and local, national, and international coastal managers. They form the basis for conservation decisions used to promote the recovery of sea turtle populations not only in Florida, but world-wide.

The trackers last up to 2+ years; however, we will provide you with a new active turtle to track if the one you are tracking becomes inactive. When this happens it is most often due to damage, falling off, or simply running out of batteries. Again, if this happens just contact us and we'll provide a new active sea turtle for you to track!
